Dijon's short-stay kerb stops at two hours (€4.50) and an unpaid stay is a €40 FPS. Divia's tram park and rides are free with a same-day ticket; its centre car parks cost €11 for 24 hours.

Free Divia P+R with a tram ticket validated the same day: Valmy on T2 or Piscine Olympique on T1. A trip is €1.50.

Car towed?

DiviaFourrière, rue des Ateliers (tram T2, Carraz), 03 80 58 39 69, open daily. Dijon's own tariff isn't on its page; the national cap is €135 plus €7.15 a day.

EV charging

Divia counts 131 charging points in its car parks: 23 at Monge, 20 each at Darcy, Dauphine and Sainte-Anne. No price is published.

Watch out

Kerb paid Mon–Sat 09:00–12:30 and 14:00–19:00; short-stay zone max 2 h (€4.50). Unpaid = €40 FPS (€25 within 15 days). The ZFE bans no car in 2026, per a December 2025 order.

Driving to Dijon

Dijon's short-stay kerb stops at two hours, €4.50, and an unpaid or overstayed ticket becomes a €40 post-parking charge (FPS), €25 if you pay within 15 days. Nothing goes on the windscreen: the notice is posted to whoever the car is registered to.

My plan: leave the car at a free tram park and ride, Valmy or Piscine Olympique, and ride in on a €1.50 ticket. If the car has to sleep in town, I'd put it under Darcy or Sainte-Anne, where 24 hours costs €11.

Parking in Dijon: Two hours at the kerb, €11 a day underground

1. Don't worry about the ZFE this year

Dijon Métropole has had a low-emission zone (ZFE) since 1 January 2025, inside the ring road across ten communes. A general exemption lets every vehicle in, and TyreMap reports an order of 23 December 2025 extending it for 12 months from 1 January 2026. I couldn't open the Métropole's own page to confirm. On the sticker, sources disagree: Roole wrote in 2025 that it's compulsory, TyreMap says it isn't. At €5.11 posted abroad, I'd fit one, and Lyon further south bans Crit'Air 3, 4 and 5 anyway.

2. Read the paint, not the map

Divia, which runs parking for the Métropole, has two kerb zones. The short-stay zone (courte durée, about 1,700 spaces) has white markings and a two-hour limit: €2 for an hour, €4.50 for two. The long-stay zone has orange markings and lets visitors stay 8h30 for €4. On Divia's maps the short-stay zone is blue and the long-stay zone orange or red, so the map and the street don't match.

3. Pay only 09:00–12:30 and 14:00–19:00

Meters charge Monday to Saturday, with a free lunch break; Sundays and public holidays are free. Divia's page says nothing about August, and a booking site says it's charged as usual. Pay at the meter or in PayByPhone, EasyPark or Flowbird.

4. Pay the meter, because the FPS is €40

The FPS is €40, or €25 if you pay within 15 days at stationnement.gouv.fr or by phone. After three months it gains a €50 surcharge. Two hours on the kerb is €4.50; skipping it costs almost nine times as much. Older guides still print €17. Divia runs the service, so its figure wins.

5. Past two hours, go underground

Divia runs 11 car parks with 4,150 spaces, all open 24/7. The centre tier, Darcy-Liberté (505 spaces), Sainte-Anne, Trémouille-Marché and Monge, is €1.90 an hour, €5.40 for four, €11 for 24 hours. Dauphine and Grangier add 10 cents. Tivoli-Berbisey is €8.60 a day. Heights are 1.90 m, except Trémouille's 1.95 m, so a roof box stays outside.

Four hours under Darcy (€5.40) beats two kerb sessions (€9). I'd take the roof every time.

Towed in Dijon: Dijon's pound opens on Sundays

1. Search the pound before ringing anyone

Divia's DiviaFourrière page has a "find my vehicle" search and suggests checking from the day after. Or ring the pound on 03 80 58 39 69. If you think the car was stolen, call 17.

2. Get the release order first

You need a release order (mainlevée) from the police or gendarmerie. Bring your driving licence, registration document, insurance certificate, roadworthiness certificate and photo ID. The pound is at rue des Ateliers, tram T2 stop Carraz. It opens Monday to Friday 08:00–18:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00, Sunday 10:00–18:00. Card or cash; no cheques.

3. Budget about €180

Dijon's own amounts aren't on the DiviaFourrière page, so plan on the national ceiling from 1 October 2026: €135 to tow, €7.15 a day storage. With a €35 obstruction fine, one day is €177.15. On a pavement or cycle lane the fine is €135, so €277.15.

A pound that opens on Sunday is rare in France. I'd still rather not need it.

EV charging in Dijon: 131 plugs under Divia's roofs

1. Charge where you sleep

Divia counts 131 charging points in its car parks: 23 at Monge, 20 each at Darcy, Dauphine and Sainte-Anne, 6 at Tivoli and 5 at Grangier. Trémouille's page lists none.

2. Expect a slow plug

A charger listing from the national register shows Darcy with 7 kW Type 2 and Monge with a 12 kW CCS unit, both run by Bouygues Energies & Services. Neither Divia nor the listing gives a price, so read the screen before you plug in.

3. Take a Type 2 cable

The listing says no cable is attached at Darcy. Bring your own.

My pick is Monge: the most points, a night in the car park for €11, and the Cité de la gastronomie next door.

Where to charge

Free parking in Dijon: Free tram parks, Sundays and the lunch break

1. Park at a P+R and ride

Divia's three P+R sites are free if you show a ticket validated the same day: Valmy (190 spaces, tram T2 terminus), Piscine Olympique (243 spaces, T1) and Zénith (T2). Valmy and Piscine open 05:00–01:00, with exit 24/7; all are 1.90 m.

2. Do the family arithmetic

A Pass 1h is €1.50, or €2 with a contactless card. Alone, a return is €3 against €11 for a day under Darcy. A family of four on the 24-hour Tribu pass pays €10.15, about the same as the garage. Divia doesn't say whether a card tap counts at the barrier, so I'd buy a ticket.

3. Use lunch, Sundays and holidays

The kerb is free 12:30–14:00, all Sunday and on public holidays. In the Toussaint holiday that means Sunday 1 November and Wednesday 11 November 2026.

4. Sleep where parking is free

B&B HOTELS' own site says its Dijon Nord Zénith and Les Portes du Sud hotels have free, closed car parks; Nord Zénith also has a charger. B&B Dijon Centre sends guests to Grangier. That's the only free hotel parking I found.

Leave the car at Valmy and take T2 in. Every price on this page was checked on Divia's own pages on 14 October 2026.

Free or nearly-free spots

Divia P+R: free with a same-day ticket

Three sites, all 1.90 m: Valmy (190 spaces, tram T2 terminus), Piscine Olympique (243 spaces, tram T1 and bus B16) and Zénith (tram T2, open 24/7). Valmy and Piscine open 05:00–01:00, exit 24/7. Show a ticket validated that day to leave free; a Pass 1h is €1.50.

Lunch, Sundays and holidays on the kerb

Divia charges the kerb Monday to Saturday 09:00–12:30 and 14:00–19:00 only. Sunday 1 November and Wednesday 11 November 2026 are public holidays, so free.

Disabled badge holders park free

Hotels and their parking

  • B&B HOTEL Dijon Nord Zénith — Near the Zénith and Parc Valmy, north-east Dijon Map. The chain's own page: free, closed car park and a charging point; the Zénith P+R and tram T2 are close
  • B&B HOTEL Dijon Les Portes du Sud — Marsannay-la-Côte, by the A311, south of Dijon Map. The chain's own page: free, closed car park; on the way to the Côte de Nuits and Beaune

⚠ The small print on 'free' parking

  • Dijon Métropole's ZFE has applied since 1 January 2025 inside the ring road across ten communes. A general exemption lets every vehicle in; TyreMap reports an order of 23 December 2025 extending it for 12 months from 1 January 2026. I could not open the Métropole's page to confirm. Roole wrote in 2025 that the Crit'Air sticker is compulsory there; TyreMap says it isn't. I'd fit one (€5.11 posted abroad).
  • Driving on to Lyon? Its ZFE bans Crit'Air 3, 4 and 5 around the clock and fines €68; the sticker is required there.
  • Old FPS figures still circulate: a parking-booking site prints €17 within 72 hours and €30 after. Divia's own FPS page gives €40, or €25 within 15 days. Divia wins; it runs the service.
  • The map colours are not the paint colours: the short-stay zone has white markings but is blue on Divia's maps; the long-stay zone is orange on the ground and orange or red on maps.
  • Every Divia car park is 1.90 m except Trémouille-Marché (1.95 m) and all three P+R sites are 1.90 m, so a roof box or a high van stays on the street.
  • The FPS notice is posted to the registered keeper; nothing goes on the windscreen. In a hire car the rental company passes it on with its own fee.

Questions people actually ask

Where is park and ride in Dijon, and what does it cost?

Divia runs three: Valmy and Zénith on tram T2, and Piscine Olympique on T1. Parking is free if you show a ticket validated the same day. A Pass 1h is €1.50 (€2 by contactless card); a 24-hour Tribu pass for four is €10.15.

How much is the parking fine (FPS) in Dijon?

€40, or €25 if you pay within 15 days of the notice at stationnement.gouv.fr or by phone. After three months a €50 surcharge is added. The notice comes by post to the registered keeper.

Do I need a Crit'Air sticker for Dijon?

No car is banned in 2026: the ZFE runs under a general exemption, extended for 2026 according to TyreMap. Whether the sticker is still required, sources disagree. I'd fit one; it's €5.11 posted abroad and Lyon requires it.

Is street parking free on Sundays in Dijon?

Yes. Divia charges Monday to Saturday 09:00–12:30 and 14:00–19:00, so lunchtime, Sundays and public holidays are free. Divia's page says nothing about August.

Where do I park for the Cité de la gastronomie?

In Parking Monge, next door: 460 spaces, €1.90 an hour, €11 for 24 hours, 23 chargers, height 1.90 m. The tourist office recommends it too.

My car was towed in Dijon. Where is it?

At DiviaFourrière, tram T2 stop Carraz, phone 03 80 58 39 69, open every day. Get a release order from the police first. Budget the national cap: €135 plus €7.15 a day, plus the fine.
