Troyes's open-air car parks are free from 19:00 to 09:00, from 12:00 to 14:00 and all day on Sundays and holidays. By day the underground garages are the better deal: €7.10 for ten hours at Cathédrale. There's no ZFE.
I'd arrive in the evening, leave the car at Victor Hugo overnight for nothing, then move it under the Cathédrale for the day. On a Sunday I wouldn't pay at all.
Parking in Troyes: Free after seven, €7.10 underground by day
1. Park free after 19:00 and on Sundays
Seven open-air car parks with barriers, run by Troyes Parc Auto, stop charging at 19:00 and start again at 09:00: 14 Juillet, Victor Hugo, Argence, Casimir-Perier, Michel Laclos, Danton and Bégand. They're also free from 12:00 to 14:00, all Sunday and on public holidays. Victor Hugo and 14 Juillet let you out around the clock.
2. Go underground for a long day
Cathédrale (460 spaces), Les Halles (500) and Hôtel de Ville (400) share one quarter-hour scale: €1.50 for an hour, €4.70 for four, €7.10 for ten, €7.90 for twelve. The first 15 minutes are free, 30 at Les Halles. Overnight, 20:00 to 07:30, a quarter-hour costs €0.10.
The open-air table is dearer for long stays: €7.10 buys only eight hours at Victor Hugo, and twelve hours is €11.90. The two scales meet at seven hours, €5.90 each. Past that I'd be underground, unless lunch and evening fall inside my stay.
3. Measure the car before Hôtel de Ville
Hôtel de Ville is 1.80 m, the lowest in town. Les Halles and 14 Juillet are 1.90 m, Cathédrale 2 m, Victor Hugo 2.10 m. With a roof box, Victor Hugo is the only one I'd try.
4. Use the kerb's free windows
Street parking is paid Monday to Saturday, 09:00–12:00 and 14:00–19:00. It's free at lunch, overnight, on Sundays and holidays, and from 17:00 on Thursdays and Fridays in the central red and orange zones (not the yellow one). The city adds 30 free minutes.
The operator publishes no visitor price per zone, so read the meter. Since 1 January 2026 the app is EasyPark, not Flowbird; the city says to pick the Basic offer and Troyes to avoid service fees. August isn't mentioned as free anywhere, so I'd assume it's charged.
5. Skip the ZFE worry, not the sticker
Troyes isn't on the government's list of 25 low-emission zones. Grand Reims and Dijon Métropole are, so a Dutch or Belgian car doing this trip still needs a Crit'Air sticker: €5.11 posted abroad from certificat-air.gouv.fr.
The classic mistake is following the satnav into the old town's pedestrian streets, where only delivery and service vehicles belong.

Towed in Troyes: No pound address, so budget the national cap
1. Ring the municipal police first
Troyes publishes no car pound address or hours. The municipal police answer 24/7 on 03 25 42 34 21, at the Hôtel des Sécurités. If you think the car was stolen, ring 17. I'd bring my licence, passport and the registration or rental papers.
2. Budget €142.15 for one night
The city's pound tariff isn't published, so the national ceiling applies: since 1 October 2026 that's €135 to tow a car and €7.15 a day to store it. One night is €142.15. Parked in a pedestrian street? The city's 2025 leaflet lists €35 for that, €75 if paid late, and warns of immobilisation and towing. That's €177.15 before you've driven away.
3. Pay the meter for the whole stay
The FPS (post-parking charge) for an unpaid kerb space isn't on any city or operator page I could open. The notice comes by post to the address on the registration document, and you pay online or at a tobacconist if the notice has a QR code.
A city that won't print its pound tariff isn't promising to be cheap.
If your car has disappeared
- Who took it
- Not published. The city and its parking operator, Troyes Parc Auto, give no pound address, hours or tariff, and no FPS amount for an unpaid kerb space

EV charging in Troyes: Nine car parks with chargers, no published price
1. Charge at Victor Hugo or 14 Juillet
Troyes Parc Auto lists chargers at Victor Hugo, 14 Juillet P1 and P2, Michel Laclos, Casimir Périer, Desguerrois, 3 Seine, Jean Schiffer and Danton. Operators vary, and it sends you to the Aube energy syndicate for details. No kWh price is published, so read the screen before you plug in.
2. Don't use the bay as a space
The city's parking page says the charging bays are for charging only. Once you're full, move the car.
3. Top up at McArthurGlen
McArthurGlen's own page lists chargers in its free car park, with no time limit on parking. It gives no count or price.
My pick is Victor Hugo: 2.10 m, chargers, and free from 19:00 until the morning.
Where to charge
- Victor Hugo and 14 Juillet — Victor Hugo (2.10 m) and 14 Juillet P1 and P2, open-air car parks. Chargers confirmed by Troyes Parc Auto; no price published. Bays are for charging only
- Seven more operator car parks — Michel Laclos, Casimir Périer, Desguerrois, 3 Seine, Jean Schiffer, Danton. Operators vary; the operator points you to the Aube energy syndicate. 3 Seine adds 2h30 of free parking
- McArthurGlen Troyes — McArthurGlen Troyes, Voie du Bois, Pont-Sainte-Marie. The outlet's own page lists chargers in its free car park; number and price not given
Free parking in Troyes: Free lunches, free nights, free outlets
1. Take 2h30 free at 3 Seine
3 Seine and Jules Guesde give the first two and a half hours free, plus the same free nights, Sundays and holidays. Jean Schiffer, next to the Simone-Veil hospital, gives two hours.
2. Park free at the outlets
McArthurGlen Troyes has free parking with no time limit and opens every day, Sunday 1 November included (09:30–19:30). Buses 1 and 12 run from Les Halles. Marques Avenue also says free parking on its own page; TCAT line 2 stops there.
3. Don't look for a park and ride
I found no official park and ride on the city, Troyes Parc Auto or TCAT pages. TCAT lists a Navette Cœur de Troyes (N), but gives no fare or route on the page I read. In a town this compact, the free evening car parks do the same job.
4. Expect to pay at your hotel
I found no hotel whose own site promises free parking. Hôtel de Troyes lists €4, or €24 with charging.
If you remember one thing: park open-air after 19:00 and underground by day. Every price on this page was checked on the operator's own pages on 14 October 2026.
Free or nearly-free spots
Open-air car parks at night, lunch and Sunday
14 Juillet, Victor Hugo, Argence, Casimir-Perier, Michel Laclos, Danton and Bégand are free 19:00–09:00, 12:00–14:00, Sundays and public holidays.
2h30 free at 3 Seine and Jules Guesde
The first two and a half hours cost nothing, plus the same free nights, Sundays and holidays.
2 hours free at Jean Schiffer
Next to the Simone-Veil hospital; free 19:00–08:00, Sundays and holidays too.
Kerb: 30 minutes, lunch, evenings, Sundays
The city gives 30 free minutes. Free 12:00–14:00, 19:00–09:00, Sundays and holidays, and from 17:00 on Thursdays and Fridays in the red and orange zones.
Both outlet villages
McArthurGlen: free, no time limit, chargers, open every day. Marques Avenue: free car park, TCAT bus line 2.
⚠ The small print on 'free' parking
- Troyes has no low-emission zone: the national list of 25 ZFEs on mieuxrespirerenville.gouv.fr doesn't include it. Grand Reims and Dijon Métropole are on that list, so on a Reims–Troyes–Dijon trip order the Crit'Air sticker anyway (€5.11 posted abroad, certificat-air.gouv.fr).
- Heights: Hôtel de Ville 1.80 m, Les Halles and 14 Juillet 1.90 m, Cathédrale 2 m, Victor Hugo 2.10 m. With a roof box, Victor Hugo is the only one I'd try.
- The FPS (post-parking charge) amount and the street price per zone are not on the city's or Troyes Parc Auto's pages, and the city's 2026 tariff PDF wouldn't open past page 35 for me. The notice goes by post to the address on the registration document.
- The old town's pedestrian streets are for vehicles serving the area only. Parking there is €35 on the city's 2025 leaflet and can end in immobilisation and a tow; obstructive parking is on the city's list of video-ticketed offences.
- No official park and ride: I found none on the city, Troyes Parc Auto or TCAT pages. TCAT runs a Navette Cœur de Troyes (N), but the page I read gives no fare or route.
