Beaune gives you about 1,190 free spaces in car parks on and just off its ring boulevard, and charges only inside the walls. Inside, the red zone jumps from €4.40 for two hours to €35 at two and a half, which is exactly the €35 FPS for not paying at all.
So I don't pay. I leave the car in a free ring car park such as Lorraine or Les Buttes, walk in through the ramparts, and keep the meters for a 30-minute stop.
Parking in Beaune: Free outside the walls, €35 inside
1. Skip the Crit'Air question here
Beaune has no low-emission zone. The town's own transport page mentions none, and national ZFE lists name only Dijon in the Côte-d'Or. A Dutch or Belgian car needs no sticker for Beaune itself. The town is controlled by meters, discs and the FPS, not by emission class.
2. Use the first 30 minutes free
Every paid zone gives 30 minutes free. Then the red zone, around the Hôtel-Dieu, Place Carnot and Place de la Halle, is €2.20 an hour and €4.40 for two, paid 09:00–19:00. The orange and green zones are €1.70 an hour, paid 09:00–12:30 and 14:00–19:00. Sundays and public holidays are free; the town says nothing about August, so I'd assume it's charged.
3. Don't stay 15 minutes too long
The red zone is built as a trap. Two hours is €4.40, 2h15 is €15, 2h30 is €35, the same as the FPS. Orange does the same at 4h15 and 4h30, green at 10h15 and 10h30. Overstay by a quarter of an hour in red and you've paid €10.60 extra for nothing. I'd set a phone alarm at 1h50.
4. Pay with EasyPark, not Flowbird
The town's tariff page, updated 27 August 2026, says meters or the EasyPark app (phone parking app). The tourist office still names Flowbird. The town sets the rules, so I'd install EasyPark.
5. Put a roof over it when it rains
The town runs two covered car parks: Saint-Étienne, 200 spaces, open 07:00–21:00 to hourly users, and Les Chanceliers, 125 spaces, 24/7. Both share one phone, 03 80 24 06 15. Prices and heights sit in a PDF I couldn't open; no other page publishes them, so check at the barrier. I only use them when it rains.
The classic mistake is circling Place Carnot for a red-zone space. The free car parks on the ring are a short walk away.

The cheapest way to park, by how long you stay
| If you stay | Cheapest | Cost | Watch out |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 hours in the centre | Parking Relais P2 (tourist office listing) | Free | The tourist office lists a free P2 relay car park at the southern exit, 240 spaces with 4 EV points. The town's own page does not list it, and the free Côte&Beaune shuttle ran only 6 July–30 September 2026. Town buses are €1, cash on board. |
| …and the kerb, for comparison | Kerb, red zone (inside the walls) | €4.40 | 30 minutes free in every zone. Red zone €2.20 for one hour, €4.40 for two, then €15 at 2h15 and €35 at 2h30, the limit. Orange and green €1.70 an hour. The FPS is €35 in every zone, €28 if paid within 72 hours. |
| A full day (10 h) | Parking Relais P2 (tourist office listing) | Free | The tourist office lists a free P2 relay car park at the southern exit, 240 spaces with 4 EV points. Towed in Beaune: Beaune's car pound is a blank page
1. Expect a €35 FPS first
Not paying isn't a fine in France; it's a €35 FPS here in every paid zone. Paid within 72 hours it drops to €28, and the town deducts what you did pay. The ANTAI posts the notice; after three months it adds €50. A hire car gets it too, with the rental firm's fee on top.
2. Search the plate, then ring the mairie
The town tendered its car pound (fourrière) contract in 2024 but publishes no operator, address, hours or tariff. Search the plate on the interior ministry's Ma Sécurité pound finder first. Then ring the town hall, 03 80 24 56 78. If you think the car was stolen, call 17.
3. Budget the national cap: €177
With no Beaune tariff published, the national ceilings from 1 October 2026 apply: €135 to tow and €7.15 a day storage. Collect next day and it's €142.15; add the €35 FPS and you're at €177.15. A pavement or a disabled bay is a €135 fine instead of the FPS, so €277.15.
I'd bring the registration document, licence and passport, and ring the hire company before anything else.
If your car has disappeared
- Who took it
- The Ville de Beaune controls paid parking itself; it put its car pound (fourrière) out to tender in 2024 and publishes no operator
- Phone
- Town hall switchboard (no pound line published): +33 3 80 24 56 78
Police emergency, if you think the car was stolen: 17 - Collect it at
- Not published by the town. Search the plate on the interior ministry's Ma Sécurité pound finder, then ask the town hall.
- Hours
- Not published.
- What it costs
- No Beaune tariff published, so the national ceiling from 1 October 2026 applies: €135 tow, €7.15 a day, €15.20 if the car was not yet hooked up. Next-day pickup €142.15; with the €35 FPS, €177.15; with a €135 very-obstructive fine instead, €277.15.
- Bring
- The town lists nothing. I would bring my licence, passport, registration document and insurance, and ring the hire company first.
EV charging in Beaune: Freshmile by the Cité, fast chargers by the A6
1. Charge on Avenue Charles de Gaulle
A national charging directory lists several Freshmile posts (charging network) along Avenue Charles de Gaulle, by the Cité des Climats: 22 kW, two to four points each. No price is published, so read the app before you plug in.
2. Fast-charge at Levernois
The quickest listed is the IZIVIA site at McDonald's Beaune Levernois: 150 kW, six points, just south of town. Price not published.
3. Use the station car park overnight
Effia Gare de Beaune has two 22 kW points, by the same directory.
I'd charge at Levernois on the way in and stop worrying.
Where to charge
- Freshmile posts, Avenue Charles de Gaulle — Avenue Charles de Gaulle, by the Cité des Climats. A national directory lists several 22 kW posts with 2–4 points each; no price published
- IZIVIA fast charger, Levernois — McDonald's Beaune Levernois, south of town. 150 kW, 6 points, per a national directory; price not published
- Effia station car park — Parking Gare de Beaune. 2 points at 22 kW, per a national directory; price not published
Free parking in Beaune: Twelve free car parks, no bus needed
1. Pick a ring-road car park
The town lists 12 free car parks with no time limit printed: Lorraine (135), Les Buttes (103), Carmel (106), Les Tanneries (83), plus the boulevard itself (158). That's €0 a day against €8.80 for ten hours in the green zone.
2. Bring a blue disc for three hours
Four blue zones, among them Place Madeleine (130) and Parking République (free again since 24 March 2026), allow 3 hours with a European disc, Mon–Sat 09:00–12:00 and 14:00–18:00. A missing disc is €35. Tabacs sell them.
3. Don't count on the park and ride
The tourist office lists a free Parking Relais P2 at the southern exit: 240 spaces, four EV points. The free Côte&Beaune shuttle ran only 6 July–30 September 2026, so for the autumn holiday it's a car park, not a P+R. Town buses cost €1, cash on board.
4. Bring the camper to Charles de Gaulle
Parking Charles de Gaulle has 85 camper spaces: free for 4 hours, €11.70 for 20 hours, €21.40 for 48. Water or electricity is €4.70 a token.
Every price here was checked on the town's and tourist office's pages on 14 October 2026.

P2 relay car park: free, but no autumn shuttle
The tourist office lists Parking Relais P2 at the southern exit: 240 spaces, 4 EV points, free. The free Côte&Beaune shuttle ran 6 July–30 September 2026 only; town buses are €1 a ticket, cash on board. The town's own parking page does not list P2.
Sundays and holidays at the kerb
Paid zones and blue zones are free on Sundays and public holidays: 1 November 2026 is a Sunday and 11 November a Wednesday holiday.
30 free minutes in every paid zone
Red, orange and green zones all start with 30 minutes free; take a ticket or start the EasyPark session anyway.
Hotels and their parking

⚠ The small print on 'free' parking
- Beaune has no low-emission zone: the town's transport page mentions none, and a May 2026 national ZFE list names only Dijon in the Côte-d'Or. A foreign car needs no Crit'Air sticker for Beaune itself.
- The paid zones jump at the end: red 2h €4.40, 2h15 €15, 2h30 €35; orange 4h €5.50, 4h15 €15, 4h30 €35; green 10h €8.80, 10h15 €15, 10h30 €35.
- The town's tariff page names EasyPark; the tourist office still names Flowbird. The town's page (updated 27 August 2026) wins.
- FPS reduction: the town's tariff page prints "7 €" next to the reduced FPS, while its FPS guide gives €28 within 72 hours with a worked example (35 − 7). I read it as €7 off, so €28.
- Parking République has been free (blue zone, 3 hours) since 24 March 2026; the tourist office still lists it as paid.
- Car park counts differ: the town gives Jardin Anglais and Petites Buttes 61 spaces together, the tourist office 111 and 63. Counts are not prices; the sign wins.
