Best parking bet

Central car park P03: €2.50 an hour, 06:00–22:00, no time limit, 199 spaces, ten minutes' walk to the centre. Eight hours is €20.

Car towed?

No tow procedure, car pound or fee is published. Fines come from MIR, Ljubljanska cesta 5, 04 620 03 11. Pay within eight days and you pay half.

EV charging

6 charging spaces at P03, 4 at P06, 6 at P11; the tourist board counts 40 chargers in Bled. No kWh price published.

Watch out

e-vignette: €16 for 7 days on every motorway and expressway, €300 fine without. North-shore road closed to cars 15 June–30 September (1995 ordinance).

In Bled you may park only in marked car parks. The municipality runs 18 numbered ones around the lake, and the price you pay depends on the number: €2.50 an hour at the big ones, €4.50 at the short-stay ones near the water.

My plan: leave the car at the Central car park by the Bledec sports ground, walk ten minutes to the lake, and don't move it again until you leave.

Parking in Bled: €2.50 at P03, €4.50 by the water

1. Park at P03 for €2.50 an hour

The Central car park (P03) opened on 4 July 2025 with 199 car spaces. It charges €2.50 an hour from 06:00 to 22:00, with no time limit. Eight hours there is €20. It's ten minutes' walk from the centre.

2. Use the €4.50 car parks for one hour

The car parks closest to the lake cost €4.50 an hour. P01 at the Mercator shop, P02 at the bus station, P07 on Grajska cesta and P08 give the first hour free, then stop you at two hours. P04 at the ice hall and P05–P06 below Krim cap you at four. Mala Zaka (P13), at the rowing end of the lake, has no limit, but eight hours there is €36.

3. Don't wait for a cheaper season

The municipal price list charges most car parks 08:00–20:00 every day, and it shows no winter rate. Only P16 and P17 change with the calendar. The tourist board's parking page quotes a range up to €7.50 an hour; the municipality's own list tops out at €4.50, and the municipality sets the price, so I go by the list. You pay with coins, notes, a bank card, SMS or EasyPark (a parking app).

4. Keep off the north shore in summer

A 1995 municipal ordinance closes Kidričeva cesta, from Vila Prešeren to Mala Zaka, to all motor traffic from 15 June to 30 September. I couldn't read the newer traffic ordinance to confirm every line survives, so I'd treat that shore as walkers' territory. The south-shore road, Cesta svobode, is the main road to Bohinj. It was rebuilt from September 2025, on a contract running to January 2026.

5. Buy the e-vignette before the A2

Slovenia's e-vignette (e-vinjeta) covers every motorway and expressway, including the Ljubljana ring road. It's tied to your plate. A car pays €16 for seven days, €32 for a month, €117.50 for a year. The usual motorway routes from Croatia and Italy run through the Ljubljana ring, so buy it before the border. From Austria, the Karawanks tunnel has its own toll and the A2 beyond it needs the vignette. DARS fines €300 without one. AMZS gives €300 to €800, and DARS is the body that collects it.

My pick is P03. It's the cheapest car park with no clock on it: €20 for eight hours, against €36 at Mala Zaka.

Towed in Bled: No tow tariff, one enforcement office

1. Ring the Bled enforcement office first

Fines come from the inter-municipal inspectorate and wardens (MIR), in the ice hall at Ljubljanska cesta 5, phone 04 620 03 11. The office opens Monday 09:00–11:00, Wednesday 09:00–11:00 and 14:00–16:00, and Friday 09:00–11:00. I found no tow procedure, car pound address or tow fee on the municipality's parking site, the MIR site or the tourist board's parking page.

2. Pay within eight days for half

MIR says you can pay half the fine within eight days, by bank transfer with the ticket's reference and the purpose code COST. Svet24's summary of the Traffic Rules Act gives €40 for ordinary wrong parking and €80 for a pavement or blocked access. Pay a €40 ticket inside the week and it's €20.

3. Complain in writing, not at the machine

Disputes go to [email protected]; the municipality promises an answer within 15 working days of a complete complaint.

Bled doesn't publish a tow tariff. I wouldn't test it in July.

If your car has disappeared

Who took it
The inter-municipal inspectorate and wardens of Bled, Bohinj and Železniki (MIR) issue parking fines. No tow procedure, car pound or tow fee is published by MIR, the municipality's parking site or the tourist board

Tow and storage fees are not published. Fines: half if paid within eight days (MIR). Svet24's summary of the Traffic Rules Act gives €40 for ordinary wrong parking and €80 for a pavement or blocked access, so €20 or €40 paid inside the week.

Nothing is listed. Fines are paid by bank transfer with the reference on the ticket and purpose code COST. I would bring the registration document or rental contract, driving licence and passport, and ring the rental company first for a hire car.

EV charging in Bled: Plugs at the Central car park, no published price

1. Charge at P03, P06 or P11

The municipal car park map lists 6 charging spaces at P03, 4 at P06 below Krim and 6 at P11 (Infrastruktura Bled).

2. Don't expect a posted kWh price

The tourist board counts 40 chargers around Bled. In 2019 the public ones were run by Petrol, and Petrol's own price page wouldn't load for me. Neither the municipality nor the tourist board publishes a price, so read the screen before you plug in.

3. Charge free at Garden Village

Garden Village Bled says on its own site that parking and EV charging are free in its outside car park.

I'd charge at P03: the plugs sit in the car park I'd use anyway.

Where to charge

Free parking in Bled: Betin, the free hour and the right hotel

1. Walk down from Betin

The municipal map lists Betin as free, with no time limit, 65 spaces. Guides put it 10–15 minutes' walk downhill to the lake, so the walk back is uphill. It fills early in summer.

2. Take the free hour

P01, P02, P07 and P08 give the first hour free; P09 on Ribenska cesta and P18 at Grajska pristava give 30 minutes. That's enough for a cream cake, not for the castle.

3. Ask about parking before you book

Garden Village says its parking is free. Sava Hotels Bled, which runs the Grand Hotel Toplice, Rikli Balance, Park and Jadran, says on its factsheet that guests parking in front of its hotels pay a fee.

Park at P03 and walk; that's the one move that saves money here. Every price on this page was checked on the municipality's own parking site on 5 October 2026.

Free or nearly-free spots

Betin, free and unlimited

The first free hour

P01, P02, P07 and P08: first hour free, then €4.50, two hours maximum. P09 and P18: first 30 minutes free.

Short free bays

The municipal map lists free short-stay bays, e.g. 11 at the Triglav National Park office (two hours) and the health centre on weekdays 08:00–20:00 (two hours).

Hotels with free parking

  • Garden Village Bled — Cesta Gorenjskega odreda 16, 4260 Bled Map. Its own information page: parking and EV charging are free in the outside car park

⚠ The small print on 'free' parking

  • A 1995 municipal ordinance closes Kidričeva cesta on the north shore, from Vila Prešeren to Mala Zaka, to motor traffic from 15 June to 30 September, and lets the town close the road to Velika and Mala Zaka when their car parks are full. I could not read the newer traffic ordinance to confirm it is unchanged.
  • The e-vignette covers all motorways and expressways, including the Ljubljana ring road. Car: €16 for 7 days, €32 a month, €117.50 a year. DARS fines €300; AMZS says €300–800. The Karawanks tunnel from Austria is tolled separately.
  • The tourist board's parking page quotes up to €7.50 an hour; the municipal price list tops out at €4.50. The municipality sets the price, so the list wins.
  • Castle admission: the tourist board gave €18 in January 2025; the castle's own price list says €19. The castle sets it, so €19.
  • Sava Hotels Bled (Grand Hotel Toplice, Rikli Balance, Park, Savica Garni, Jadran) says guests parking in front of its hotels pay a fee; vehicles over 3.5 t go to a paid bus car park 900 m away.

On a motorway or expressway, yes: the e-vignette is tied to your plate. A car pays €16 for seven days, €32 for a month or €117.50 for a year. DARS fines €300 without one.

Can I drive around Lake Bled?

Not all the way in summer. A 1995 ordinance closes the north-shore road from Vila Prešeren to Mala Zaka to motor traffic from 15 June to 30 September. The south-shore road, Cesta svobode, is the main road to Bohinj.

Where do I park for Bled Castle?

The castle's car park 1 is 50 m from the gate at €3 for every started hour. I'd park at P03 for €2.50 an hour and walk up the ten-minute path from the bathing area.
