Don't drive over the Puente Nuevo. Since summer 2025 cameras on Cuesta de las Imágenes and Calle Virgen de la Paz read plates on the bridge axis, and only Ronda-registered cars and hotel guests the hotel has reported may pass. Readers report €70 fines, plus a hire-company fee on top.
My plan: park at Martínez Astein, €2 an hour, €24 a day, 24 hours, 2.20 m, and walk ten minutes to the bridge.
Parking in Ronda: Ronda: one big garage open, the central one shut
1. Use Martínez Astein, not the bridge
APK2's Martínez Astein is the garage I'd use: entrances on Avenida Martínez Astein and Calle Córdoba, open 24 hours, headroom 2.20 m. The operator lists €2 for one hour, €4 for two, €6 for three, €10.05 for five, €24 for the day, billed by the minute. Ronda Today puts it at 400 spaces.
2. Don't count on Plaza del Socorro
The underground car park at Plaza del Socorro is the most central, and it's closed. Parclick shows "cerrado temporalmente", and Ronda Today says the town hall ordered it shut on safety grounds. APK2's own page still prints €3.05 an hour, €22.25 a day and 2.10 m. No reopening date is published.
3. Don't prebook at the walk-up price
Parclick sells Martínez Astein from €29.95 a day; the operator's own day maximum is €24. Two nights on APK2's app is €72 for three days, or €87 for a week. I'd only book if the date is a feria weekend.
4. Know the other garages before you arrive
Ronda Today lists seven more: El Castillo on Plaza Duquesa de Parcent (194 spaces, 24 h), Antiguo Asilo on Paseo Poeta Rilke (180, 24 h), El Fuerte (230, 24 h), Multicines on Calle Lauría, Renfe at the station, La Merced and Victoria, the last four closing at night. None publishes a price online. Parclick sells the school car park on Calle Madre Petra from €17.50 a day.
5. Read the paint, not the app
Blue lines around the old town are paid, white lines are usually free, say two parking guides. Ronda publishes no blue-zone tariff or hours I could find, so the meter is your only price list. There's no low-emission zone: Ronda has 33,671 people, under the 50,000 line in Spain's climate law, and I found no ZBE ordinance. A foreign car registers nothing.
The trap here isn't the price. It's following the satnav over the gorge.

Towed in Ronda: Ronda: cameras, not tow trucks, catch most visitors
1. Stay off the bridge axis
The cameras watch Cuesta de las Imágenes (San Francisco side) and Calle Virgen de la Paz near Plaza de la Merced, says Ronda Today. Hotel guests inside the zone may drive in only if the hotel registers the plate with the Policía Local. Ask for that in writing when you book.
2. Expect the bill by post
The town hall publishes no fine figure I could find. Readers of Ronda Today report €70, and hire firms adding €15 or €40.37 to pass on the driver's details. One reader's total, €70 plus €40.37, is €110.37 for one drive over a bridge.
3. Ring 112 if the car's gone
Ronda's tow fee, pound address and hours are unpublished. Ring 112 and ask for the Policía Local. National rules still apply: a serious parking offence is €200, halved if paid within 20 days, and a non-resident stopped by police must pay or deposit the fine on the spot.
4. Never block a garage door
Ronda Today warns that cars across garage entrances or in no-parking spots are towed, and puts fine plus tow at €70–150. That's a guide's range, not a tariff.
I'd rather pay €24 at Martínez Astein than test any of this.
If your car has disappeared
- Who took it
- Ronda's Policía Local runs the plate cameras on the Puente Nuevo axis. The town publishes no tow fee, pound or fine schedule that I could find
- Phone
- Emergency number; ask for the Policía Local if the car has gone: 112
- Collect it at
- Not published. Ring 112 and ask for the Policía Local.
- Hours
- Not published.
- What it costs
- Tow and pound fees: unpublished. Camera fines: readers report €70, plus hire-company admin fees of €15 or €40.37 (one total: €110.37). National scale: a serious (grave) parking offence is €200, halved within 20 days. Ronda Today puts fine plus tow for blocking a garage at €70–150.
- Bring
- Nothing is published for visitors. I would bring my passport, driving licence and the hire agreement. A non-resident stopped by police must pay or deposit a fine on the spot (DGT).
EV charging in Ronda: Ronda's chargers sit inside APK2's garage
1. Charge at Martínez Astein
APK2 lists APKElectric chargers at Martínez Astein. You start one by scanning its QR code with your phone, no account needed. The price per kWh isn't published, so read the screen first.
2. Don't plan around Plaza del Socorro
Socorro has chargers too, on APK2's page, but the car park is closed. I found no other public charger in an official source.
3. Fill up before the mountain roads
Ronda sits at about 739 m, and every approach climbs. I'd arrive with charge in hand rather than count on a free plug in town.
For an EV, I'd book a room with its own charger and treat the garage as backup.
Where to charge
- APKElectric at Martínez Astein — Martínez Astein, open 24 hours. Scan the QR code on the charger with your phone, no account needed; APK2 publishes no price per kWh
- Plaza del Socorro (closed) — Plaza del Socorro. APK2 lists chargers here, but the car park is temporarily closed
Free parking in Ronda: Ronda's free kerb is by the station
1. Look for white lines out of the centre
Two guides agree white-lined spaces are free unless a sign says otherwise. The closer to the bridge, the more of them turn blue.
2. Try the streets past the station
Two guides name the area beyond the train station for free parking, a walk from the old town. It's where I'd look first if I didn't want to pay €24.
3. Expect no park and ride
Ronda publishes no park and ride and no shuttle. The cheapest covered option with a published price is Martínez Astein at €24 a day; Parclick's school car park is €17.50 booked.
4. Bring a motorhome to the official area
Campers belong at the Área Auto Caravanas Ronda, off the A-369 about 1 km from the old town, two guides say. Its price isn't published on the pages I read. Don't take a van into the old town.
No hotel's own site I checked promised free parking. Assume you'll pay.
Free or nearly-free spots
White lines away from the bridge
Two parking guides say blue lines around the old town are paid and white lines are usually free unless signed. Ronda publishes no blue-zone tariff or hours.

⚠ The small print on 'free' parking
- Puente Nuevo axis: since summer 2025 Policía Local cameras on Cuesta de las Imágenes and Calle Virgen de la Paz read plates; only Ronda-registered cars and guests whose hotel has registered the plate may pass. The rule comes from local press and Ronda Today; I could not read an official ordinance, and no fine is published.
- Plaza del Socorro, the most central car park, is temporarily closed with no reopening date; older guides and APK2's page still list it.
- No low-emission zone: Ronda has 33,671 people (1 January 2025), under the 50,000 line in Spain's climate law, and I found no ZBE ordinance. A foreign car registers nothing.
- Booking Martínez Astein on Parclick (from €29.95) costs more than the walk-up day maximum (€24).
- Vans and motorhomes should stay out of the old town; Martínez Astein's 2.20 m is the highest published clearance.
