You can't park in Brno's historic core at all. Zone A is for residents, and cameras check every car that enters the pedestrian centre. Around it, zone B gives a visitor the first hour free once a day, then charges 40 Kč an hour.
How I'd park: on a weekday, Domini Park below the old town, or P+R Líšeň for 20 Kč up to 12 hours. On a Saturday the street is free.
Parking in Brno: Zone A says no, zone B gives you an hour
1. Don't drive into the 1-01 core
The historic centre is area 1-01, zone A: no visitor parking, entry by permit only, and an automatic camera system watches the gates. Since 1 June 2026 even deliveries are limited to 04:00–11:00. The city doesn't say how hotel guests get in, so ask your hotel first.
2. Register even the free hour
In zone B, the green ring round the centre, every visitor gets 60 minutes free once a day in each area. It only counts if you register it: in the ParkSimply app, EasyPark, at a machine, on the city's online machine or by SMS. Unregistered means unpaid from minute one. A camera car reads plates, so there's no warden to plead with.
3. Pay 40 Kč an hour after that
After the free hour zone B costs 40 Kč an hour. Three hours on a weekday is 80 Kč. Zone B is charged around the clock Monday to Friday and on Sunday from 17:00 to midnight. The SMS route is 902 06, text BR B plus plate and minutes, up to 120 minutes per message. The city's parking site publishes no fine.
4. Park under Domini or Academy Park
Domini Park sits at the foot of the old town: 50 Kč an hour weekdays 06:00–22:00, 40 Kč at night and at weekends. Academy Park gives you 15 minutes free, then 40 Kč an hour. The car park by the Janáček Theatre is 40 Kč by day and 30 Kč at night; with no published cap, a full 24 hours there comes to 860 Kč. Heights aren't published for any of them.
5. Buy the vignette before the D1
You reach Brno on the D1, D2 or D52, and all need the Czech e-vignette. For 2026 it's 230 Kč a day, 300 Kč for ten days, 480 Kč a month. Two separate days already cost 460 Kč, so a weekend trip means the ten-day one. The ministry says to buy only on the state e-shop, edalnice.gov.cz. I found no low-emission zone on Brno's own pages.
Domini Park is my pick for a day in town: the old town is right above it.

Towed in Brno: Porážka 2 and a 3,500 Kč bill
1. Ring 158 before you panic
The city company Brněnské komunikace (BKOM) does the towing, on police orders. BKOM's own FAQ says to ask on 158 or check its website. The municipal police emergency line is 156.
2. Go to Porážka 2
Cars go to BKOM's depot at Porážka 2, west of the centre. BKOM publishes no opening hours, only a non-stop release line, +420 734 416 482. The switchboard is +420 532 144 111.
3. Bring 3,620 Kč and the papers
Since 1 January 2024 a completed tow is 3,500 Kč and storage 120 Kč per 24 hours. One night and you're at 3,620 Kč, with no discounts. Bring ID or passport, the registration certificate and the keys; pay in cash, by card or by bank transfer. In a hire car, I'd ring the rental company before anything else.
4. Read the block-cleaning signs
In spring and autumn, streets are swept block by block behind temporary no-parking signs. A car in the way is moved for 3,500 Kč, the same as a tow. The dates come from each district, not from BKOM.
Brno towed about 7,200 cars in 2023. That's half of ten years earlier, and still twenty a day.
If your car has disappeared

EV charging in Brno: Zone E: free bays while you charge
1. Register zone E in ParkSimply
The bays at public chargers are zone E. While you're charging, parking there is free, but you register a 6, 12, 18 or 24-hour permit in ParkSimply or on the online machine first. The next one is available after 24 hours.
2. Charge at Academy Park
Academy Park has 8 charging points, Domini Park 4. Neither publishes a kWh price, and nor does the city's own e-mobility network, which takes card payment through its app after you scan the QR code.
3. Drive the motorway free
Fully electric and hydrogen cars pay no motorway vignette; plug-in hybrids up to 50 g CO₂/km get 75% off.
Academy Park is where I'd charge: eight plugs and a tram into the centre.
Where to charge
- Zone E: free bays while charging — Marked bays at public chargers across the city; map on parkovanivbrne.cz. Electric cars and hybrids that are charging park free, but must register a 6, 12, 18 or 24-hour permit in ParkSimply or the online machine. The next permit is available after 24 hours
- Academy Park — 8 points — Academy Park, Veveří 100. The largest number of points in a city car park I could confirm, at 40 Kč an hour for the bay. No kWh price published
- Domini Park — 4 points — Domini Park, below Špilberk. Closest to the old town. Four points, price not published; read the screen before you plug in
Free parking in Brno: Saturdays, zone C by day, two hours at Líšeň
1. Come on a Saturday
Zone B is free on Saturdays and public holidays, no registration needed. Zone C is free all weekend. Sunday is the catch: zone B starts charging again at 17:00.
2. Use zone C before 17:00
Zone C, the outer blue area, is only regulated on weekdays 17:00–06:00, at 30 Kč an hour. Park there in daylight and you pay nothing; leave the car overnight and the meter runs from five.
3. Leave the car at P+R Líšeň
P+R Líšeň is free for two hours and 20 Kč up to 12 hours; past twelve it jumps to 100 Kč. P+R Ústřední hřbitov gives the first hour free and 40 Kč up to 12.
4. Sleep at Hotel Avanti
Hotel Avanti, Střední 61, says on its own site that guest parking is free of charge, with a Tesla charger. It's the only one I found saying so itself.
If you remember one thing: the free hour in zone B only exists once you've registered it. Every price above was checked on the city's and BKOM's own pages on 5 October 2026.
Free or nearly-free spots

Hotels with free parking
- Hotel Avanti — Střední 61, 602 00 Brno Map. Its own site: "Parking for hotel guests – FREE OF CHARGE", in front of the hotel, plus a Tesla charger for guests. North of the centre
⚠ The small print on 'free' parking
- Zone A, the historic core (area 1-01), has no visitor parking at all; it is for residents and subscribers. Entering the pedestrian centre needs a permit, and an automatic camera system checks every car.
- Since 1 June 2026 deliveries into the centre are allowed only 04:00–11:00, and food couriers lost their entry permits. The city publishes no route for hotel guests' cars; ask the hotel before you arrive.
- Brno has no low-emission zone on the city's parking or mobility pages. What you do need is the Czech motorway e-vignette on the D1, D2 and D52 into the city: 230 Kč for a day, 300 Kč for ten days in 2026.
- The free hour in zone B is once a day per area, and it only counts if registered. A car with no registration is treated as unpaid from the first minute.
- Spring and autumn block cleaning: temporary no-parking signs go up street by street, and a car in the way is moved for 3,500 Kč. Schedules are set by each city district, not by BKOM.
