市政的长停车场 Dyke Road 和 大教堂停车场:一天10欧,不限时长。用 Galway City Parking(市政停车App)按车牌付。

小心

没有纸票,收费机正在拆,别指望找得到,车牌就是凭证。路边收费时段:周一到周六08:30–18:30,周日13:00–18:00。爱尔兰靠左行驶。

01 · 景点

城墙的尽头,石头穹顶,用总统命名的广场

这些地方从 Dyke Road 走过去都不超过二十分钟。只有一个下午的话:西班牙拱门、码头街、傍晚的大教堂。

1. 从西班牙拱门开始

西班牙拱门 1584年 建成时叫 Ceann an Bhalla,意思是“城墙的尽头”,1755年里斯本地震引发的海啸冲垮过一部分。“西班牙”这个名字是很久以后才有的。在科里布河边的矮墙上坐一会儿,这里就是城里的客厅。

2. 顺路进市博物馆,免费

戈尔韦市博物馆 就在拱门后面,不要门票。顶楼正对着 Claddagh 和海湾。

3. 傍晚去大教堂

戈尔韦大教堂 1965年8月15日 祝圣,是欧洲最年轻的大型石砌教堂,盖在旧监狱的地基上。进去不要钱,车就停隔壁那个10欧的停车场。

4. 哥伦布祈祷的故事,听听就好

圣尼古拉斯教堂 建于 1320年。哥伦布1477年“据说在这儿祈祷过”,这是旅游局的原话,不是史料。免费参观。

5. 在 Eyre 广场找1627年的门

Eyre 广场 正式名字是肯尼迪纪念公园,1965年改的名,因为肯尼迪 1963年6月29日 在这儿演讲过。广场上立着 Browne 家的一扇石门,1627年 的,门后什么都没有。

6. 走新桥看三文鱼堰

希望之桥 2023年5月 开通,约85米,就在三文鱼堰桥旁边。看堰最好的位置在这儿,过了桥就是大教堂。

7. 沿 Salthill 海滨步道走到头

Salthill 海滨步道 沿着海湾一直到 Blackrock。挑起风的日子去,那才是重点。

02 · 美食

Clarenbridge 的生蚝,码头街的炸鱼薯条

1. 九月到四月吃生蚝

戈尔韦本地生蚝的季节是 九月到次年四月,生蚝节就是为开季办的。生吃,配黑面包和一杯世涛。

2. 炸鱼薯条去 McDonagh's

码头街22号的 McDonagh's 一家人开了四代,一边是餐厅,一边是炸鱼薯条柜台。餐厅有 Clarenbridge 生蚝;我会在柜台买一份鳕鱼薯条,拿到西班牙拱门边吃。

3. 下雨天点海鲜浓汤

海鲜浓汤 配黑面包,是爱尔兰西部的午饭。下雨天我连菜单都不看,先点这个。

4. 去圣尼古拉斯教堂边上的市集

戈尔韦市集 就在圣尼古拉斯教堂旁边,周六 全天和周日下午开;市政的摊位许可是周六06:00–18:00。可丽饼、咖喱、寿司、巧克力都有。

菜单上印着啤酒照片的店,我直接走过。

03 · 节日

七月赛马,广场市集,九月生蚝

1. 2027年7月26日至8月1日躲开赛马场

戈尔韦夏季赛马节 是 2027年7月26日(周一)到8月1日(周日),周三跑 Galway Plate,周四跑 Galway Hurdle。今年十月那场是 2026年10月24日到26日。城东那几天会堵死。

2. 圣诞市集要早点停好车

圣诞市集 从 2026年11月7日 摆到 12月31日,周四到周六开到22:00。我查的时候,市政2026年的圣诞换乘停车日期还没公布。

3. 艺术节的日期先别当真

戈尔韦国际艺术节 还没公布2027年的日期。戈尔韦旅游网写的是2027年7月12日到25日,标着“待定”,正好在赛马节前面。生蚝节 2026年是9月25日到27日,2027年还没宣布。

那扇窗没给英语贡献一个词

1. 林奇的故事别信

林奇之窗 讲的是1493年一位市长亲手吊死自己儿子,导游还会加一句:英语 lynch(私刑)就是从这儿来的。不是。这个词来自美国弗吉尼亚,查尔斯·林奇上校 1782年 在信里写了“林奇法”。

2. 数一数十四个部落

戈尔韦叫“部落之城”,是因为 十四个 商人家族管了这座城好几百年,从 Athy 一直到 Skerrett。林奇是其中之一,Blake、Browne、Joyce、Kirwan 也是。

3. 拱门要谢 Eyre 家

你从西班牙拱门底下穿过的那几个拱,是 Eyre 家后来开的,为了通往他们新修的码头 Long Walk。跟西班牙没关系。
