停车首选

Ingliston 换乘停车场免费,04:00–02:00开放,1085个车位,而且它在电车的市区票价圈内,进城单程 2.40镑。再往外一站的机场站要 7.90镑。不能过夜(停过夜的车会被拖走),也不接房车。

小心

低排放区不是收费区。 汽油车要欧4、柴油车要欧6,一天24小时、一年365天都管——而且市议会明写:不达标的车没有任何提前付费进入的办法。

第一印象

风从福斯湾一路灌进每一条巷子

这座城建在几道山脊上,所以你不是在爬坡,就是在俯视。老城沿一条脊线铺开,新城在下面按方格排布,中间那道谷地原本是湖,后来抽干了。今天的公园之所以像一条壕沟,原因在这里。

到了九月,下午四点光线就转成琥珀色,风从福斯湾上来,灌进每一条巷子和楼梯井。

28.50镑,买一个国家档案里查不到的故事

地下导览是我会多想一遍的那类。Real Mary King's Close 招牌导览起价 28.50镑,基础票 25.00镑;Camera Obscura 24.95镑。那条地下街本身是真的,记载也扎实:十六世纪的遗构,1750年代被皇家交易所压在下面,此后一直替市政厅承重。

查不到的是卖票的那个故事。我去找过官方机构对"瘟疫病人被活活砌进墙里"的记载,一条都没有。往外走两条街,苏格兰国家博物馆免费,每天10:00到17:00,克隆羊多莉就在科技展区。

本地人才去的

所有人都在那座山上拍照,却没人进那栋楼

这座城一半的明信片是从卡尔顿山拍的,而山顶那栋楼几乎没人走进去。Collective 艺术中心 开在旧市立天文台里,是当代艺术空间,不要钱:周三到周日10:00到17:00。

我的走法是下午晚些时候去,看完展览再走到外面的平台上,看你本来就是为它上山的那片景。旁边的纳尔逊纪念碑七天都开,10:00到15:30,它收费,但官方页面没写多少,到门口问。

上路提醒

两条苏格兰规矩,和英格兰不一样

第一条能直接结束一趟旅行。苏格兰的酒驾上限是每100毫升血液50毫克,英格兰和威尔士是80毫克,2014年12月5日起如此。往南跨过边境,标准不会跟着松回去。

第二条更怪。这里的商店早上十点前、晚上十点后不得卖酒,一周七天都一样,执照委员会有义务驳回任何要求延长时段的申请。酒吧是另一套制度,十点以后照样能坐着喝,只是买不到一瓶带回住处。

01 · 景点

那座公园你是开不过去的

先推翻一个默认假设:荷里路德公园 免费,全天开放,但园内道路每周六和周日对车辆关闭。High Road 和 Dunsapie Loch 停车场只在周二到周四09:30到15:00对车开放,Duddingston Low Road 因落石风险关闭,没有复开日期。园内任何地方都不许过夜。

爱丁堡城堡 网上订23.50镑,到门口买26.00镑,而且确实会卖完。那门"一点钟炮"每天都放,唯独周日、耶稣受难日和圣诞节不放——挑周日去,正好错过唯一一件按时发生的事。

苏格兰国家博物馆 和 苏格兰国家美术馆 都免费,每天10:00到17:00。有一个可以划掉:Georgian House 正在做保护性修缮,闭馆,没有公布重开日期。

02 · 美食

neeps 不是萝卜,而有法律定义的是那种派

哈吉斯在苏格兰根本没有法律定义——我去翻了肉制品成分条例,里面压根没提它。条例保留的名称是 "Scottish pie 或 Scotch pie",那是受保护的名称,有最低肉含量要求。国菜没人管,球场边上那种派反而有法可依。

在苏格兰,neeps 指的是芜菁甘蓝,那种黄心的大根茎,虽然苏格兰人自己也管它叫 turnip。和土豆一起捣成泥,就叫 clapshot。甜点是 cranachan:奶油、烤燕麦片、覆盆子、蜂蜜,通常还有威士忌。

Fishers 海鲜餐厅 从1991年起就开在利斯河岸一座十七世纪瞭望塔里,厨房做到21:30。Café Royal 在一屋子瓷砖底下卖生蚝。L'Alba D'Oro 炸鱼薯条 在 Stockbridge 从1975年炸到今天,只做晚上。

03 · 节日

八月的二十五天,和散落在一年里的四天

艺穗节 2027年8月6日到30日,第80届;皇家爱丁堡军乐节几乎完全压在同一段,8月6日到28日,在城堡前广场。那三周半里,市中心装着平时好几倍的人,车停在里面是负担不是便利。放在 Ingliston。

另外几个该记下来的日子是停车假日:2026年12月25日和26日,然后是2027年1月1日、3月29日、12月25日和26日。车位免费,扣车场关门,低排放区的摄像头照常工作。

04 · 历史

一支成立六周的消防队

通常的讲法是:1824年那场大火,催生了爱丁堡的消防队。顺序反了,而真相更好看。这支市立消防组织成立于 1824年10月,是世界上第一支,负责人詹姆斯·布雷德伍德当时24岁。大火在 11月15日 烧起来,相隔五六个星期,烧了三天:十三人丧生,其中两名消防员,约四百户人家失去住处。

这座城已经为这件事立了两百年的法:1621年 起老城屋顶必须用瓦或石板,1674年 起外墙必须用石材,照样烧了起来。真正改变的不是法条,是那个人。布雷德伍德把方法写了下来,而他在头六个星期里摸索出的那门手艺,今天还在用。
